If you need to learn how to keep a relationship interesting, there are suggestions that will keep the spark alive.

You'll learn to have fun, respect each other, and grow as a couple when you are conscious about your relationship and what you're looking to pour into it.

With this in mind, consider these ten tips as you look to make your relationship blossom.

Tips on How to Keep a Relationship Interesting

By simply reading this far, you're already taking steps to improve your relationship. Most people simply assume that relationships should just flow naturally.

This is completely false.

Instead, you'll need to be deliberate about your relationship, starting with these points.

1. Stay in Touch With Your Higher Purpose

People get bored and complacent in relationships, mostly when they feel they've lost their individuality.

While your relationship is meant to nurture, strengthen, and inspire you, it's important that you stay attuned to your higher purpose and what gets you out of bed each morning.

This way, the two of you will build a bond and continuously push each other toward your purpose, using the relationship as the centrepiece.

2. Never Stop Learning

When you stop learning, you stop evolving.

Make sure that you're continuously stimulating your mind on your individual interests and pursuits, while also learning more about relationships in general.

There are a few great books that you'll want to look into reading for the betterment of your relationship.

Some great examples of relationship books you can turn to include "Way of the Superior Man" by David Deida, "The 5 Love Languages" by Gary Chapman, and "Mating in Captivity" by Esther Perel.

The more that you research relationships and sexuality, the better you'll be able to inform your love life and continuously improve.

3. Give Each Other Space

This is something that Esther Perel stresses in "Mating in Captivity", and that we've all known for years if we're being honest. As the old saying goes -- absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Today, we're connected more than ever because we can communicate via smartphones, social media, and other platforms. This is great to help build togetherness and foster connections, but it also doesn't give you time to miss each other.

You'll also want to create some separation in your own home.

Make sure that you take time to still engage in your hobbies, spend time with friends and do things outside the home in order to have things to talk about when you do get back together.

4. Resolve to "Date" Each Other Every Day

Many people also get caught up in marriage and serious relationships, to the point that they forget the fun and uncertainty that comes with dating.

When you get out of bed each day, try and see your partner as a date, and aim to  give them the best version of yourself.

It's when relationships get serious that we begin to box each other into a role and truly forget how to keep a relationship interesting.

By keeping things light and fun, it'll always be interesting.

5. Make Sex a Priority

This can't be stressed enough. People tend to shy away from the importance of sex in a relationship, typically due to past shame or guilt around the topic.

You need to make sure that you have open discussions about sex and make it a priority in your relationship. Today, sexless relationships are particularly common, so you'll need to do everything you can to create warmth and love that fosters a wonderful foundation.

6. Avoid the Poison Drip

In relationships, people often treat their lover better than everyone else, but also worse than everyone else.

Since they see your best and worst, make sure that you're aware of this and temper the urge to spew toxicity. You should be uplifting each other and avoid the "poison drip" that takes place in many relationships.

The poison drip is a slow degradation of a relationship, in which little instances of disrespect and negativity grow beneath the surface until the entire relationship is toxic.

Make sure that you're honest with yourself and each other to avoid this.

7. Keep Communication Honest and Open

It's critical that you always do what you can to keep your communication as open as possible.

Since your relationship is supposed to make you better, never diminish it by living lies. Instead, resolve to have as many open conversations as possible and set the table for it. When you are learning how to keep a relationship interesting, this should be the most critical part.

8. Take Vacations

You will need to be sure that you're taking the time to get out of town and enjoy each other's company. By taking a beach vacation, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some sunshine, drink some cocktails and unwind, as you strengthen your bond.

9. Get the Most of Your Health

It's important that you do everything possible to keep yourself healthy, so you're giving the best version of yourself to your lover.

When you eat healthy foods and take great care of yourself, it's easier for you to have low stress and positivity, which will make your relationship better as a whole.

10. Celebrate Special Occasions

Finally, don't skip the celebrations.

There is no reason not to go all out to spend time with each other and celebrate the great moments. Whether you want to plan a great birthday or make Christmas one of the ages, it all makes your relationship better.
